Tonbridge and Malling Kwick Cricket
A total of 15 Primary Schools, 24 teams and 250 children took part. Every Team played at least six matches and there were 32 matches played.
The 2008 Festival Winners were Woodlands I who beat Borough Green I in the Final and will now represent Tonbridge & Malling District in the County Finals at Canterbury Cricket Club, (Polo Farm Ground) on Sunday 6th July. Borough Green were last years winners and went on to achieve 4th place in the County Finals.- the best result so far for T&M.
Leybourne I and Tunbury I contested the 3rd and 4th place and Tunbury Is received the award for the most sporting team.
Chris Smith, the Mayor of T&M presented the awards and congratulated Tonbridge School for hosting the Festival and all the teams and helpers for a wonderful day of continuous cricket. He encouraged all the performers to continue to play for their schools and community clubs and to make friends for life through sport.
Much of the administration on the day, managing the match programme, umpiring and scoring were undertake by pupils and staff from Aylesford and Hayesbrook Sport Colleges and Hillview School as part of their role to increase participation in team sport in the community.
Tonbridge School is probably the very best venue for this kind of Festival with its extensive grounds, accessibility, high quality playing surfaces and hospitality.
